Oak & Softwood Sandblasting

In older properties, grade II or I listed buildings the Oak beams and wood have been painted or varnished hiding the natural material. Our wood blasting techniques allow us to sandblast, internally or externally, to remove the old paint and varnish from all wood types (generally it's old Oak). We use millions of high pressured aluminium particles (or aluminium media) to strip away a very thin layer of damage/paint/varnish etc from the surface, revealing the natural wood finish.

It is a very popular technique and is applied at various national heritage and national trust properties and is a very industry standard way to clean old oak and wood. Green oak beam blasting

Again with newer wood and green oak we apply the same blasting techniques but with a slightly different media to restore back to the original finish.

Soft wood blasting

For softer woods we use a very light grade media (lighter and finer than a grain of salt) to gently remove old damage, paint or other such offending stains or materials to bring the woods back to the original state. Normal Sandblasting can sometimes be too powerful on older woods, so we use a lightweight blasting media to gently restore the wood back to its natural finish.
